Gourmet Balsamic Berries Dessert

Whether berries are in season or not, you can still enjoy this simple, yet sophisticated dessert. Fresh or frozen berries work equally well. The balsamic vinegar enhances both the flavor and color of the berries, delighting your eyes as well as your palate. Add a shortbread biscuit, and you've got a gourmet dessert any epicurean would envy!
Makes 2 servings

¼ cup balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
½ cup sliced strawberries
½ cup blueberries
½ cup raspberries
2 shortbread biscuits

1. Using a small bowl, whisk balsamic vinegar, brown sugar and vanilla.
2. In a separate bowl, combine all the berries. Then pour the balsamic mixture over the fruit. Let berries marinate for about 10 to 15 minutes.
3. Once time is up, drain marinade. Refrigerate berries or serve at once.
4. To serve, separate berries into 2 serving dishes. Garnish each with a shortbread biscuit.

Super Smart Chef Tip

Don’t limit yourself to just strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Experiment with other varieties such as blackberries and gooseberries. Mix and match!
